We are proud to share a special recognition for Dr. Nonkulie Dladla, M.D., M.S., founder and medical director of Gramercy Regenerative Medicine.
The Miami News has named Dr. Dladla its Entrepreneur of the Month for September 2026, recognizing a career that brings together more than two decades of medicine with the entrepreneurial decision to build an independent medical practice in Manhattan.
Choosing a Different Path in Medicine
Dr. Dladla’s story begins with a strong foundation in conventional medicine. She earned her M.D. from Weill Cornell Medical College, followed by a master’s degree in Clinical Research and Epidemiology from Cornell University, and completed her internal medicine residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. She is board-certified in internal medicine and has more than 20 years of clinical experience.
What makes this recognition particularly meaningful is the path she chose next.
At a time when fewer physicians are choosing practice ownership, Dr. Dladla founded her own independent practice in New York City. According to the figures highlighted by The Miami News, the percentage of physicians with an ownership stake in their practice declined from 53.2% in 2012 to 35.4% in 2024.
Rather than following that trend, Dr. Dladla chose to build something of her own.

Building Medicine Around the Patient
That independence has allowed Dr. Dladla to develop a practice shaped around her approach to medicine: combining her background in internal medicine and clinical research with individualized, data-informed care and a deeper exploration of the factors affecting each patient’s health.
It is also what makes this recognition about more than entrepreneurship alone.
Building an independent medical practice means taking responsibility not only for patient care, but also for the people, technology, operations, compliance, and countless decisions required to turn a medical vision into a functioning practice.
For Dr. Dladla, that journey has become Gramercy Regenerative Medicine.
